Jamila (28) is a medical doctor in Arima. “What was tough for me was learning to be co-dependent. My upbringing was such that we were taught to be independent. So you've already developed this way of, ‘I can do everything for myself’. You have basically established yourself as your own woman, and now suddenly you have a man in your life! It is difficult sometimes to really adapt and let him take responsibilities for certain things while still holding on to your identity and still feeling that you're respected and comfortable, and you are an established person. Honestly for me, that was probably difficult.”
