I was raised as a Christian. Somewhere in the mid-2000s, I started searching for answers from within my faith. I couldn't understand how Jesus was the son of God. So I started looking elsewhere. I converted to Islam in 2008 after doing a lot of research on the religion, and eventually falling in love with it. Islam is nothing like what is promoted these days. Islam is about love for each other, love for the poor, love for charity. I experience what is true Islam. Certain versus in the Quran convinced me to have a certain level of "imaan" or faith, so around the year 2013/2014, I started wearing the face veil as well. People look down on me sometimes, seeing me all covered up. But I don't miss it because what women wear on the streets, I wear at home!
